about “Gogo” project

This project was started in 1992. At that time, illustration was mostly executed utilizing hand drawing techniques.

In 2017, I redrew many images using computer and the story was translated in Spanish, French and Japanese. Then, self published bilingual books; English/Spanish, English/French and English/Japanese.

In 2020, during the pandemic lockdown period I created a video version of “Gogo”. The “Gogo” project has expanded into even more languages. Priscilla’s students translated and recorded “Gogo” into their native languages.

Many many thanks to my mentor, Priscilla Karant and her students who have participated with the ongoing “Gogo” project.

1992年に始めたこのプロジェクトは、手描きでのイラストレーションでした。2017年、コンピュータを使って多くの画像を描き直し、物語はスペイン語、フランス語、日本語に翻訳され、自費出版でバイリンガルの本：　英語/スペイン語、英語/フランス語、英語/日本語を出版しました。2020年、パンデミックのロックダウン期間中「Gogo」のビデオ版を作成しました。このビデオでは、プリシラの生徒たちが、「ゴゴ」を母国語に翻訳して自らの声で録音しています。「Gogo」プロジェクトは、さらに多くの言語に拡大し、現在、英語、スペイン語、フランス語、日本語、ポルトガル語、韓国語、アラビア語、ロシア語、中国語の９か国語で、YouTube動画で楽しめます。
